Warehouse Setup
Navigator includes a suite of tools to assist you to set up your warehouse from the hand-held scanner. By performing these transactions in the warehouse
you can avoid using paper to set up a paperless warehousing environment!
Gathering Barcodes
Navigator's barcode module allows you to maintain the list of barcodes assigned to each product from your hand-held
scanner. By scanning the barcodes as they are assigned to your stock codes, you can quickly and accurately gather
the necessary information to go live with Navigator. You can store an unlimited number of barcodes against each
item, including supplier barcode, EAN/UPC barcode and GTIN carton barcodes (along with the quantity stored in each carton).
The barcode allocate screen also allows you to capture the dimensions and a standard weight for cartons of product.
Record Picking Locations
Set the primary pick location for an item in the warehouse by scanning the bin label and a
product barcode. This tool can be used to relocate stock even while picking is in progress, with incomplete pickslips
being altered in real-time.
This module also allows warehouse users to capture minimum
and maximum quantities for each bin.
Creating New Locations
Navigator's setup process is made simple by the bin creation tool. This powerful screen allows you to create and print sequential
bin locations by scanning the barcode of the item in the bin. The screen allows you to assign the location to a warehouse zone, and even to specify
an arrow to print on the bin indicating the diretion of the stock.
As soon as the product is scanned, Navigator:
- Creates a new bin location
- Prints a barcoded label with the bin information, including a check digit for voice picking. Navigator ensures that
the same check digit is not reused within 100 bins.
- Saves the picking location for the scanned item to the newly created bin.
- Changes the picking location for the item scanned on any open pickslips.
- Sets up the screen to save the next position.
The location create screen also allows you jump to the
barcode assign screen when you come across barcodes which are not
yet recorded in the system.
